Heading to Beijing

August 6, 2008

It is two days before opening ceremony’s of the 2008 Olympic Games, and I have not even packed yet. The excitement of the 13 hour 55 min flight from Chicago to Soul, Korea has not gotten to me yet. I expect it will hit on Saturday when we leave for Beijing.

Notes from Beijing:  Lloy tells me that the Olympic Village is the best he has experienced in four Olympics. The people are very helpful and so far the air is good.  Did find out today that close (don’t know how close) to where I am staying that there is a golf course (good for me/not my wife) a Wal-Mart (good for my wife/not good for me) and a Hooter’s (good for me/not good for my wife).  Looking forward to sharing this great experience in Beijing 2008.

For those of you who are wondering, the attack yesterday had nothing to do with any members of the Ball family.

Arnie, safe travels for you and the family while in Beijing. Be safe!
Congratulations to Lloy for taking part in his 4th Olympics. WOW! What an accomplishment!
Good luck to him and the men’s team! I hope that his calf injury is minor enough that he will be able to continue playing in the upcoming games. I’ll be recording and watching from my living room. Yelling and rooting on the team.
Many Thanks again for Lloy’s jersey being donated for my Dad’s benefit last year. It was such a generous donation. Thank You! Melanie

Uncle Arnie thanks so much for the commentary of the Beijing games! I had to receive special permissions to be able to access your blog while at work. Now I have the entire company logging into your blog to get the updates! The womens beach volleyball commentary has been particular popular highlight with the guys in the IT department. They asked what you could do on some pitures in that event.

Lloy congratualtions and keep being that leader you were born to be! All of us are proud as heck of you and your family. Hang tuff and keep a grin on. Cousin Buck
